About Me

My name is Dr Serene Shashaa. I qualified as a doctor in the UK in 2000, and continued my specialty training both in the USA and the UK. Having worked as a respiratory and general medical consultant in the NHS for many years, I have recently transitioned to working in the independent sector.

My experience over the years, and especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, made me realise that there was something missing in the way medical care is traditionally delivered. Whilst conventional therapies, such as medications, are essential, I began to recognise that often, a more holistic approach is necessary to complement the conventional approach.

I therefore decided to dig deeper, and join the growing global movement of lifestyle medicine. This exposure to and experience of lifestyle medicine allows me to provide personalised care to a whole range of people through better understanding of what makes a person ill in the first place.

A wise person once said: “We are too busy mopping the floor to turn off the faucet”.

My Approach

During our initial meeting, we will go through a detailed assessment of your symptoms and health concerns. A detailed medical, personal, lifestyle and family history will be gathered, and any other appropriate assessments will be made.

An initial plan will be tailored to your needs. This may mean further investigations, initial treatment plans and therapies, all using the latest scientific evidence.

Depending on your case, and recognising that improving one’s health is often a journey, you may require a few consultations to ensure we cover all the basics. Multiple consultations won’t be required for everyone, but everyone’s case is naturally unique.

At the end of each consultation, and with your consent, my normal practice is to communicate our discussions and plans with your general practitioner or regular specialist doctor to ensure we’re all on the same page.

My Practice

I offer both in person and video consultations, or a combination of both.

Certain conditions can be sufficiently tackled in one to two consultations. However please be advised that in many cases, in order to foster a long-term health impact, several sessions may be required.

Please feel free to get in touch directly, and we can embark on shaping your path together.
